Ammunition discovered during a security alert
Police closed part of the Moira Road from its junction with the Knockmore Road following the discovery of a suspicious object on waste ground close to Tata Steel.
Army technical officers were called to the scene and on closer inspection, the police found what they believe to be a quantity of ammunition.

Hide AdThe suspected ammunition was taken away for forensic examination and the road was reopened later in the day.
Following the security alert, Lisburn Councillor Alexander Redpath thanked the public for their patience and consideration whilst diversions were in place on the Moira Road.
“I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding during the security alert,” said Mr Redpath.
“The PSNI are carrying out a very difficult job in exceptionally difficult circumstances.

There was second security alert in Lisburn on Friday (August 8) in Coolsara Park.
A number of residents were evacuated and Coolsara Park and Magheraleve Road were closed to traffic following the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
However, following an examination of the vehicle, nothing untoward was found and the roads were reopened a short time later.
