Annual barbecue in aid of the Hospice

THE annual Scarva barbecue in aid of Newry Hospice takes place on Saturday June 16 and everyone is invited to drop in and support the charitable event.

The venue is The Park Inn, Scarva, when steak will be sizzling on the barbecue from 7.30pm ownards. There will also be entertainment later in the evening, with an auction, music and dancing.

Robert Harold has, with the support of others, been running the fundraiser since 2005 and has supported the Southern Area Hospice for the last two years.

Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) provides invaluable support and care to people living within the Southern Health Board Area who are suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and AIDS.

All services are provided free of charge and the hospice relies heavily on voluntary donations to continue providing its specialist care.

This year £2.23 million must be raised so services can be maintained for patients and their families. Further information about the charity can be found at www.southernareahospiceservices.org.
