Antrim Road to get a facelift

One of the main arterial routes into Lurgan is to get a facelift after Roads Service were lobbied to cut the grass verges along the Antrim Road area.

Sinn Fein Councillor Liam Mackle said the Bells Row Court and Belvedere verges had become an eyesore and local residents had complained to him about the condition of the roadside at both locations.

The SF councillor welcomed Road Service’s agreement to cut the verges adjacent to both developments.

Cllr Mackle said the situation had been exacerbated by the liquidation of the management company responsible for maintaining the ‘common areas’ in the development. He said: “As a result of this company going into receivership these ‘common areas’ have not been maintained and this has added to the general air of environmental neglect. I will continue to work with the Bells Row residents until we establish an alternative system for maintaining the area.”
