Assault on Friday night in city

Police have appealed for information after an assault at Slievemore Park on Friday, October 30.

At 11.05pm two men were seen in the back yard of a house and when a male occupant went outside one of them lunged at him with what is believed to be a knife. The man fended the men off and they fled the scene. The man sustained minor injuries, a PSNI spokesman said.

Detective Inspector Alan Pyper would ask anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information about this incident to contact Police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
