Ballymoney's Simon is USA bound

Ballymoney student Simon McKendry, is jetting off to study business in the USA later this month.

Simon (below) , who is currently studying Biological sciences at Queen’s University Belfast, will soon be heading to the Centenary College of Louisiana, after being selected to take part in the British Council’s prestigious Study USA programme.

The 21 year-old departs on August 18 and recently received last minute advice and information at a pre-departure meeting in Belfast, before preparing for his year stateside.

Simon said: “I’m hoping this experience will widen my career opportunities as I’m not sure what I want to do in the future, but one possibility is setting up my own business in the biological sector, and this can only help achieve that. I’ve never been away from home for this long before, but I’m really looking forward to it. There is so much going on at the moment, it’s absolutely hectic – but I’m really excited for the months ahead.”

The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, manages Study USA.
