Became aggressive after being set upon
Stephen Ian Williamson, Reilly Park, Banbridge, admitted disorderly behaviour on May 17 this year.
The court heard that at 12.15am police received a report of a man suffering from head injuries as a result of being assaulted in Solitude Park.

Police asked him to calm down but he continued to show a high level of aggression and was arrested.
A solicitor representing Williamson said his conduct was ‘totally unacceptable’ and explained this incident happened after the defendant had been ‘set upon’ when he walked into the park on his way to get cigarettes.
He explained that his client was someone who was trying to change his ways and the last time he was in court was in 2013.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said that Williamson had a very significant record and on this occasion was involved in a drunken fracas and was abusive to police. He adjourned sentencing until December 10 for a pre-sentence report to consider the defendant’s suitability for community service.
