Under the theme, Called to Serve, thirty different meetings are planned to take place between Friday August 22 and Saturday August 30.

As well as the daily prayer meetings, Bible readings and evening celebrations, a new initiative targeted at local church leaders will be held entitled ‘Transforming Mission’.

Most of the events take place in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church with the exception of the youth events which are held on Thursday August 28 in Hamilton Road Baptist Church.

Committee Chairman Tom Clarke said: “The Convention brings together a range of speakers from various countries and it is fascinating to hear what God is doing across the globe. Thabiti Anyabwile, former Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, Grand Cayman, will be leading the morning Bible readings at 11.30am under the theme ‘Reading the Bible as Jesus did’. If people are working during the day then they can come along to one of our evening meetings, which start at 7.30pm.

“The Convention is a great opportunity to meet face to face with mission agencies who are represented in our global village based in the church halls. By chatting to them and hearing their stories, it really develops your knowledge and helps Christians to better understand what is going on overseas. The exhibition opens at 6pm before and again immediately after the main evening meeting so its a good idea to come along early and support our many partners in mission.

“The Convention has inspired many to get involved in overseas mission and with this year’s theme, Called to Serve, we hope it will teach and train more people to serve God in a variety of ways.”
