Care in Crisis celebratesanniversary

Care in Crisis celebrated its 20th anniversary at a team dinner in Café Rhema at the Jethro Centre recently.

The Mayor of Craigavon, Cllr Mark Baxter, was the guest of honour. John Beggs, Chair of the Trustees and Karen Moore, Director of Counselling, paid tribute to the staff, counsellors, receptionists and ‘friends’ of Care in Crisis who make up the team.

Almost 500 new referrals are received each year and the counsellors provide about 1,800 counselling sessions annually. The centre is open Mondays and Thursdays 9am-9pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am–5pm.

From its beginnings in 1994 Care in Crisis has expanded its services to include counselling for a wide range of issues. In 2011 the premises in Union Street were extended to include a downstairs reception area and disabled access counselling room and toilet facilities.

As well as counselling teenagers, adults, couples and older people, Care in Crisis has now extended its counselling service to primary school age children.

New posters have been produced and the Mayor acknowledged the creative talents of newly qualified graphic designer Klaudia Lisek who produced the posters.
