Carnlough’s new £100k play park will ‘benefit whole community’

The planned £100,000 facility in the Croft Road area of the village has been an ambition of the local community for the past six years.

And Larne Borough Council’s decision to appoint a contractor to take the project forward has been welcomed by Mid and East Antrim Councillor James McKeown.

The Sinn Fein man told the Times: “This has been a long time coming and I am glad that Larne council has finally given the go-ahead for the scheme.

“Children in the Croft area have been crying out for play facilities for years.

“The only other play park is at Beechlands, meaning children would have to walk along the busy Coast Road to the other side of the village to access it.”

Cllr McKeown added it is not just children who will benefit from this new facility.

“This will not be an ordinary static play park, it has been designed to fit into the existing character of area,” he said.

“It will enhance the whole of the Croft area and will benefit the entire community.”

Larne Council awarded the play park contract to Dungannon-based firm McGuigan Construction Ltd.
