The toddler’s funeral service was held in Holy Trinity Church of Ireland in Waringstown on Friday and he was buried in the adjacent churchyard.

Shankill Parish Reverend Geoff Wilson, who conducted the service, said: “The family are receiving all the support and prayers of the parish in respect of their tragic, tragic loss.”

The Meningitis Research Foundation also offered their condolences and support to the community.

The Foundation provided the following advice:

Meningitis and septicaemia – the blood poisoning form of the disease – are diseases which can strike suddenly. They can leave people fighting for their lives within hours, and for their families it can be a confusing, isolating and disorientating time. For those families, MRF is always on call through their freefone 24 hour helpline – 080 8800 3344.
