Arsonists strike vacant Ballykelly army houses

The PSNI believe a fire which caused substantial damage to a vacant property in Ballykelly was started deliberately . One of the former army houses, in the Forest Drive area of Walworth, Ballykelly, sustained “substantial damage” as a result of the suspected arson attack. A police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for information following a fire at a house in the Forest Drive area of Ballykelly during the early hours of Wednesday 23 July.

“At around 1am it was reported that a vacant house in the area was on fire. The fire was extinguished by NIFRS. Substantial damage was caused to the property as a result.

“It is believed the fire was started deliberately and Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Limavady Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
