Coronavirus: Police issue warning to Newtownabbey parents ahead of Easter weekend

Police have appealed to parents across Antrim and Newtownabbey to ensure their children follow Government guidance over the Easter weekend in a bid to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Officers will be conducting additional patrols throughout the district.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “We will be out checking for groups gathering in the usual spots including the Newtownabbey Way, V36, Rathcoole Park, Castle Gardens both Six Mile Water Parks and The Glen.

“Parents please speak with the kids. We are giving you the heads up.

“We don’t want to find any groups out there street drinking, lighting fires or causing damage to property.

“We don’t want to be bringing intoxicated youths into Antrim Area Hospital and we certainly don’t want to be calling the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to emergencies that could have been avoided.”
