Man didn’t stop for police

A 21 year old man refused to stop for police when he ran to the scene of an alleged stabbing, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

He was Andrew Walker, Fairley Drive, Lurgan, and he admitted a charge of resisting a police officer on February 16 this year.

A conditional discharge for 12 months was imposed on the defendant.

The court heard that police were involved in an incident when the defendant came along.

A solicitor for Walker said there had been an alleged stabbing incident in the town centre.

He explained that the defendant got a phone call saying it was his brother. He ran to the scene and did not stop when asked to do so by the police.
