Door supervisors training a success

The overall aim was to raise awareness of the dangers surrounding drugs and alcohol, how to carry out effective searching of patrons and awareness when checking personal identity.

Twelve door supervisors from entertainment locations including The Anchor, Shenanigans and Me and Mrs Jones, all in the Portstewart area, attended the training which included information on the classifications and the dangers surrounding drugs and alcohol.

Practical demonstrations included body searches when trainers showed how to ensure that any dangerous weapons and illegal drugs are seized and reported to the PSNI. This training programme supports door supervisors so that patrons can remain safe and gain maximum enjoyment from an evening out.

Feedback from the training session included comments: ‘the training has helped me to get a better knowledge of how to carry out body searches and understand the law’; and another participant commented that it was ‘useful training to keep me up to date on the dangers of drugs and alcohol’.
