Fire crews tackle blaze in Bawnmore

A 22-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment following a house fire in the Bawnmore area on Thursday morning (October 9).

Shortly after 7.30am, fire crews from Glengormley and Whitla Street stations responded to a report of a fire at a mid-terrace house in Bawnmore Place.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and extinguished the blaze, which had started in the living room.

The female occupant of the house, who had been alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm, was taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for smoke inhalation.
