Floral fillip

LOCAL business, community organisations and individuals have been rewarded for a busy summer spent brightening up the town.

Participants from Whitehead featured among the winners and runners-up in the annual Carrickfergus in Bloom competitions, which have just been announced.

Honours in the Best Kept Commercial Premises and Best Kept Cafe, Pub or Hotel categories went to McMasters Butchers and The Old Tea House respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Best Kept Garden section, local enthusiasts Leslie Spearman and Eddie Polland were runners-up. There was a similar accolade for Brighter Whitehead in the Best Kept Community Planting Scheme.
