Former Moira bar owner banned from boardroom

Joseph Webb (50) of Royal Oaks, Belfast was director of Webb Inns but was disqualified for six years after a number of bars he ran went into liquidation, including two in Moira, Pretty Mary’s and Four Trees.

His portfolio also included Brownes Bar in Belfast.

His firm went into administration in May 2011 owing £740,993.

The High Court heard Mr Webb had allowed the company to retain £452,382 in various taxes and allowed the business to continue while insolvent.

In a statement the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment said it accepted a disqualification undertaking for six years from the director of a number of licensed premises in Moira and Belfast.

The Company entered administration on 11 May 2011 with estimated total assets available to unsecured creditors of £68,000, liabilities to unsecured creditors of £808,993, and an estimated deficiency as regards creditors of £740,993.

“After taking into account the losses incurred by members (the shareholders) of the Company the total estimated deficiency was £741,093. The Company subsequently went into liquidation on 30 August 2011.”
