Get set for annual fun run

BUDDING athletes and fun runners alike are being urged get their running shoes at the ready and sign up for the annual Craigavon Lakes 10km race and fun run taking place on Wednesday, June 2.

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with St Peter’s Athletic Club, the route starts and finishes at Craigavon Watersports Centre.

For those participants who think 10kilometres is too much for them, there’s a five kilometre fun run and a one kilometre family challenge. The 1km challenge is open to everyone and families can run or walk it. There will also be a total of 1,000 in prize money up for grabs.

The family fun run will kick off proceedings at 6.45pm with the 5km and 10km starting at 7pm.

A donation from each entry fee will be made to Macmillan Cancer Support. Classic Mineral has donated cases of water for athletes and Real Beverage Solutions will be providing energy bars.

To pre register for the event please contact Sports Development on 3831 1687 or register online at www.niathletics.org. Closing date for applications is Wednesday, May 26. Applications can be picked up at Cascades Leisure, Craigavon Leisure Centre and Waves Leisure Centre.

Registration on the night will take place adjacent to Craigavon Watersports Centre from 6pm to 6.30pm.
