Thomas Joseph Stephen Creaney, Moy Road, Portadown, was fined £200 for common assault on August 1 last year. He was also ordered to pay his victim £200 compensation.

The court heard that the injured party, while working in a bar, saw the defendant, who was barred, inside the pub and asked him to leave.

He escorted Creaney outside but he came in again and head-butted the injured party who was taken to hospital but he did not suffer concussion or bleeding.

When he was interviewed Creaney admitted being on the premises but denied the assault. Mr Hugo Marley, representing the defendant, said Creaney was highly intoxicated at the time.

He added that his client knew the family of the injured party and returned to apologise. He had no recollection whatsoever of the incident.

Deputy District Judge Brian Archer told Creaney it was drunken, thuggish behaviour.
