Just two railwayservices cancelled

JUST two rail services on the Londonderry line were cancelled last year - the lowest number in Northern Ireland - making route the most reliable in the province.

Both cancellations were due to mechanical problems, the Rail Minister Conor Murphy revealed in response to an Assembly Question.

Over eight thousand six hundred and ninety one services were operated on the Londonderry line in 2010.

This admittedly was fewer than on any other line bar Dublin, which suffered nine mechanical cancellations.

Across Northern Ireland there were 431 cancellations in 2010 against 110,974 services operated.

Stated Mr Murphy: “This equated to 99.61 per cent reliability across all lines. The Passenger Charter target for reliability is 99.2 per cent.

“Passenger Charter targets are agreed between my department, the Consumer Council and Translink.”
