Lisburn foodbank collects 1800kgs of food during National Food Collection Day

Lisburn Foodbank would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped support the National Food Collection Days at the Bentrim Road Tesco Superstore.

Over 400 Trussell Trust Foodbanks in conjunction with Tesco had a three day food collection across the UK.

In Lisburn around 50 volunteers helped to make the collection a great success.

The three days began with a Treasure Hunt in store for food items by Tesco Staff which resulted in two additional trolleys of food for the foodbank.

The Lisburn public once again showed their generosity by donating 1800 kgs of food which equates to over 5,000 meals and snacks.

In the past two years the people of Lisburn have donated over 30 tonnes of food to Lisburn Foodbank which has helped around 3,000 adults and children in short term crisis.

The Foodbank operates through a Referral Agency system which allocates vouchers to those in need.
