Hide AdBarnardo’s NI Director, Lynda Wilson said: “We are so proud of our volunteers and the work they do, they are the backbone of our organisation. We have over 250 volunteers across 20 services who give up their time to support us in the work we do with children and families. Volunteers can take a range of roles from befriending, to mentoring, to supporting young people with disabilities, supporting parent groups or reading to children in schools, etc.
“Having dedicated volunteers help us reach more children who are vulnerable and also helps us deliver quality services, which is what we all want for our children.”
Mr McCausland said he wanted to pay tribute to the volunteers, not just for the work they do but their commitment to supporting Barnardo’s.
“Volunteers like Kathleen are an inspiration to us all” he said. “I commend Barnardo’s for recognising the wonderful contribution their volunteers make. Volunteering is an enriching experience with benefits for society and the volunteer. I would encourage more people to get involved in volunteering to support causes they are passionate about.”
