Local man lands top job at new hotel

A local man has landed one of the top jobs at a new Londonderry hotel, which will open in late November 2012.

Adam Harris, aged 30 has been appointed team leader for the new Londonderry Premier Inn, located at the new Crescent Link development

A Londonderry city native, Adam comes from a strong background in the retail industry, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service. Adam started his career with Tesco in 1999 and since then has held several senior sales and management roles with leading retail businesses.

Commenting on his appointment, Adam said: “I am delighted to join the Whitbread team, and am proud to take on a leading role in this new hotel, which will be a very welcome addition to my home city as we all prepare for next year’s City of Culture celebrations.”

Cathy Hopkins, cluster general manager for Premier Inn Northern Ireland added: “We are thrilled to welcome Adam to the management team for the new Premier Inn at Crescent Link and believe he will play a vital role in the business.”

Up to 60 jobs will be created with the opening of the new hotel, which represents a £6m investment into the local economy.

Premier Inn is working closely with the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), as part of its latest recruitment drive for its newest hotel, which will be its seventh in Northern Ireland.

The construction of the 60 bedroom hotel, which will also feature a 200 seat Brewers Fayre family pub restaurant, is now underway and the formal opening is expected in late November 2012.
