Maghera lookingforward to festival

This weekend sees the third annual International Dance and Music Festival come to Maghera and they will be literally dancing in the streets with a host of dancers and musicians lined up.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with dynamic local band Kryptic State playing at Regan’s Bar, followed by an exciting and expansive dance and music programme on the Saturday.

The festival is rounded off on Saturday evening with dance workshops in Walsh’s Hotel, a Traditional music session in the Hideout Bar, and Ceili at Watty Graham GAC.

With Argentine, Bollywood, Chinese, Latvian, Scottish, Irish, Hungarian Folk, Belly, Salsa, and various other styles of dancing from around the globe this year’s festival is bigger and better than ever and is sure to be a hit with the whole family. An appearance from award winning Michael Jackson impersonator will add a little bit of pop glam to the event.

Fresh from her Slovakian TV win, hit act Beryshine will be hitting the stage in the afternoon.

A local musical flavour has been added with the popular Kenny Paul and Hanna Ferguson adding to the excitement of the festival.

The festival also offers plenty of outdoor activities aimed at entertaining the entire family, including Jo Jingles and kids’ yoga session in the Leisure Centre on Saturday morning, face painting along with stalls and
funfair rides.

Paddy Glasgow, of Glasgowbury fame, will also be holding a Salsa drumming workshop at the same venue.

The festival aims to promote, embrace and discover the multi-cultural aspect of our local community and with many people
expected to travel to Maghera from the district and further afield, the organising committee expect an even bigger number than last year’s crowd when over 500
people attended.

QFM will be in attendance with a live radio outside broadcast during the festival, with Errol Doherty and Sarah-Louise Johnston
hosting and interviewing the many acts and mingling amongst the expected
large crowd.

The weekend is set to be an amazing family experience, so why not pop into Maghera to join in the fun!
