Man jailed for five months

A COLERAINE man, of no fixed abode, was jailed for five months for breaching a non molestation order, North Antrim Magistrates' Court heard on Monday.

Court heard that police were called at 2pm on December 23 last year by the daughter of 46-year-old Alister John Henry’s wife, who said he had turned up at Sprucefield Drive.

On arrival, police arrested Henry for the breach.

Barrister, Francis Rafferty, explained to the court that Henry had been invited to spend Christmas at his wife’s home.

“It’s the same old story and needless to say Mr Henry ended up having Christmas dinner in Maghaberry, where he has been ever since.”

Mr Rafferty said that Mrs Henry had since been in contact with her husband.

During a previous court appearance, the District Judge., Mr Wilson, suggested that the defendant, on his release, should emigrate to Australia to break the cycle of events between him and his wife.

During Monday’s sitting, Mr Wilson reminded Henry of his suggestion and jailed him for five months.
