Masked gang attacksmen inhouse

Police in Carrick are appealing for information following an incident in the Carnhill Walk area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

At approx 4am the PSNI received a report of up to six armed and masked men forcing their way into a house and attacking two males inside. The men were reportedly armed with handguns and baseball bats.

Both occupants were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

Former Carrick District Policing Partnership chairman Councillor Stewart Dickson MLA condemned the incident and urged anyone who can help with the inquiry to contact the police.

He said: “This was an appalling and cowardly attack, and people in the area are stunned that this has (continued 4) happened. I hope that those injured in this incident make a quick recovery.

“There is absolutely no place in society for acts of this nature and I would appeal to anyone with information on this to contact police immediately to help ensure that those involved can be brought to justice.”
