Met Office issues severe weather warning for ice
The warning is valid from 6pm on Thursday right through to 9am on Friday.
The yellow status warning was issued at 9.52am on Thursday.
Icy stretches will form on many untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths this evening, overnight and into Friday morning.

Hide AdIn addition wintry showers could give 1-3 cm of snow in places, mainly on higher ground above 150 metres.
“As the more persistent rain, sleet and snow clears on Thursday afternoon and evening, temperatures will fall quickly and untreated surfaces will freeze, with ice forming, especially in areas with snow cover,” said the Met Office’s Chief Forecaster.
“Further showers spreading from the west could cause salt wash-off and give further accumulations of snow in places.”
