Mid Ulster community groups invited to apply for slice of £11k Housing Executive fund

Applications for the community grant fund is open to all residents and community groups working in Housing Executive areas across the district.

The grant, which can be anything up to £5,000 per successful group, aims to encourage volunteering, social enterprise and working with the Housing Executive and other statutory agencies.

In the Mid Ulster area the Housing Executive funded a broad range of projects last year.

Working in partnership with Supporting Communities NI, which aims to encourages the formation of new groups, enhancing their skills, knowledge and expertise, the team hopes to build on this work throughout 2015.

Michael Dallat, the Housing Executive’s Area manager for Mid Ulster district, said: “This fund is just one strand of the Housing Executive’s work with resident and community groups across Northern Ireland.

“In Mid Ulster we are able to offer up to £5,000 to an individual group for their project.

“I’ve seen how a small amount of money can make a significant difference.

“Therefore I’d encourage residents’ associations and community groups to get in touch.”

Applications for the grant scheme are due to close on August 28.

Previous beneficiaries include Moy Area Community & Development Association for funding towards lighting for their Christmas event and Tyrone Men’s Shed for the purchase of a pottery wheel, kiln and associated equipment.
