Minute’s silence in council chamber to honour Alan McDonald

A MINUTE’S silence was held in the council chamber on Monday night (June 25) to honour local footballing hero Alan McDonald who died suddenly on Saturday, aged 48.

During the traditional prayer before council meetings, Deputy Mayor Fraser Agnew described Alan as a “tremendous character”.

The Deputy Mayor said he had known Alan, who hailed from Rathcoole, since he was a young boy, and he recalled how the sporty youth had spent a lot of his spare time in the Valley Leisure Centre.
