Molenan Custom House and Shandon Hotel to go under hammer

The Old Custom House in Molenan, a block of ten apartments in Rathmullan and the Shandon Hotel overlooking Sheephaven Bay are amongst properties of local interest that will be going under the hammer in Dublin on February 18.

The properties are being auctioned by Allsop Space in the RDS.The Old Custom House on the road to Carrigans is being offered for just 20,000 euros.

It is currently occupied and is advertised as: “A gymnasium together offices extending to approximately 344 square metres (3,700 square feet) situated on a site extending to approximately 0.18 hectares (0.445 acres).

“The entire property is at present let to an individual for a term of five years from 02.01.2013 at a current rent of 3,600 euros per annum.”

Meanwhile, the 95 year old Shandon Hotel in Marble Hill, a popular spot for local holiday makers near Portnablagh and Dunfanaghy, has a reserve price of between 670,000 and 730,000 euros.

Closer to Londonderry a 26.91 hectare (66.5 acre) parcel of land at Birdstown, between Burnfoot and Muff, is also a featured lot.

The reserve price is 275,000 euros.

A block of 10 two bedroom vacant apartments in Pound Street, Rathmullan, the picturesque Fanad seaside village, where Hugh O’Neill and Rory O’Donnell, sailed from in 1607 in what became known as the Flight of the Earls, is also up for grabs.

Remarkably, the 10 apartments are being offered as one lot with a reserve price of just 150,000 euros.

A house at 1 Beechwood Park, Coneyburrow, Lifford, is also amongst the lots featured and has been given a reserve of 35,000 euros.

Another semi detached two bedroom house at Dún a Rí between Buncrana and Stragill has been given a reserve of 30,000 euros.

And Unit 22 in the Courtyard Shopping Centre, Letterkenny, has a reserve of 35,000 euros.
