More schools to lose cash in fund shake-up

Primary schools in the Lurgan area are set to lose more than £150k if the Education Minister’s shake-up of funding is implemented, according to recently published statistics.

While some will lose out, others are set to gain more than £60k to their budgets, according to figures published by news website TheDetail.tv

“Whilst the increase in funding to some schools is to be welcomed it must not come at the expense of pupils in other schools or by jettisoning the principles of fairness and equality. Rural schools have been particularly hard hit.”

Bleary PS budget will be down £19,607, a 3% drop.

Carrick PS will have a budget rise by £25,033, a 2% rise.

Craigavon PS will have a budget reduction of £7,415, a 2% decrease.

Dickson PS will have a budget increase of £234 which doesn’t change it to any great extent.

Donaghcloney PS will have a decreased budget of £11,356, down 2%.

Drumgor PS will have a budget reduction amounting to £1,438, amounting to a zero percent difference.

Kings Park PS will have a budget loss of £10,839, down one per cent.

Lurgan Model PS will have a budget reduction of £3,314 down one per cent

Moira PS will lose £17,218 of its budget, a 2% loss.

Maralin Village Primary is set to lose £15,400 down 2%.

St Anthony’s PS will have £8,121 more to spend a zero percent difference.

St Francis PS will have £361 less, a 0% difference in its budget.

St Mary’s PS Derrymore will lose out by £7,038 down 2%.

St Mary’s PS Derrytrasna will lose out by £7,061 also down 2%.

St Patrick’s PS Maralin will be out £7,795, down 2%.

St Teresa’s PS will be out £4,733 down 1%.

Tannaghmore PS will have a budget reduction of £19,536 down 1%.

Tullygally PS will benefit from an extra £30,498, up by 6%.

Waringstown PS will have £22,149 less, down 2%.
