New look gym for boroughunveiled

CRAIGAVON Leisure Centre has launched its new state-of-the-art new look gym.

It boasts inclusive fitness equipment including two upper body ergometers, a recumbent bike, rower with back support seat and several new resistance machines with colour coded adjustments and rollaway seats for wheelchair access.

This new equipment, which has been secured through the Craigavon Inclusive Leisure Project, a joint Council, Disability Sports NI and Sport NI initiative, is specially adapted and accessible for people with a disability.

Colleen Murray, inclusive sports and leisure pfficer, said: “My role, within the centre, is to promote our gym and make it as accessible as possible for people with a disability. Having had this new IFI Accredited equipment installed we are now able to achieve this and offer a more inclusive service to the whole community.”

Colleen will also be offering a number of sport/physical activity programmes which take place at the centre throughout the week.

They include: Boccia, Mondays, 1.45-2.45pm; disability gym, Tuesdays, 1-3pm and 6-8pm; new age kurling, Thursday, 1.30-2.30pm.
