Kelly gives Storey tour of social needs groups

Firstly she welcomed Mr Storey to the Bayview Park Scheme in Derrymore for the official opening of six new homes.

She said: “Clanmill Housing delivered the scheme for the houses which have been built to high energy efficiency standard, making them cheaper for the families to run.”

She then organised for Mr Storey to visit Brownlow and the staff and service users at the Chrysalis Women’s Centre. “The Centre provides an invaluable service for women in Brownlow with a broad range of programmes, including courses working with school age mothers, and the provision of good quality childcare and after school programmes.”

Mrs Kelly and Minister Storey also visited the Moyraverty Centre in Brownlow where they spoke to Co-ordinator of the Drumgor Detached Youth Programme, Louise Haughian. “The Drumgor Detached Youth Programme targets young people who are marginalised or deemed to be at risk and supports them.”

They also visited the Women’s Aid Centre in Portadown. Mrs Kelly said “I wanted the Minister to hear at first hand the concerns and challenges faced by those working with some of the most vulnerable people in the community. Minister Storey was very impressed by the commitment of the volunteers and staff.”
