Praise for Margaret as she hosts 26th annual dinner

A councillor has praised Coleraine woman Margaret Peacock, after she hosted her 26th Christmas Day dinner in the Lodge Hotel for senior citizens.

The annual event, organised by Margaret and her team of volunteers reaches out to elderly members of our community who would otherwise spend Christmas alone. The volunteers - David Witherow, Liz Baird, Majella Farmer and Michael Gilmore arrange transport, entertainment and presents for those attending the lunch.

Independent councillor Claire Sugden, who recently replaced MLA David McClarty in Council, visited Margaret on Christmas Day and was quick to praise the well-known Millburn woman: “I was humbled to spend part of my Christmas day with Margaret Peacock on behalf of David McClarty, who attends every year. Margaret is an angel and a credit to Coleraine. We are truly blessed that she is part of our community.”

Margaret thanked everyone who made a donation and the Lodge Hotel for their service, she also praised her volunteers for giving up their time on Christmas Day.
