Rail group thanks for petition support

The document received over 2,350 signatures in less than two months, said LLPG chair, Elena Aceves-Cully. “This has to be credited to the many many people who have chosen to support this cause,” she added.

“Translink said these changes would impact only on about five percent of passengers. However, our group has found that most people on this line have been affected one way or another, whether to go to work, go to college or on a night out.

“Many of us have had to change the way we travel, sometimes by having to take much earlier trains, getting the bus or the car.

“I would like to thank all the organisations which have helped us in collecting the signatures: Islandmagee Spar, which had the top number of signatures; Rinkha; Steele’s; Ford Farm; Earls; The Candy Box; McMaster’s; The Bank House; Whitehead Spar; McKee’s Bakery; Larne Choral Society; The Police Male Choir; St Cedma’s Church, Larne; St Nicholas’s RC Churc, Carrickfergus; the Times Series newspapers and some of Translink’s staff who were most keen to sign it too.

“Finally, to those who signed and provided their comments at www.change.org and to the East Antrim’s Alliance office for their assistance in presenting (the petition) to the Assembly, due on November 2.”

The LLPG’s AGM will take place on November 4 at the Gobbins Visitor Centre.
