Roads Minister pledges to look at M1 noise complaints
Residents say the situation has got worse since a new solid central reservation was installed.

It was revealed during the meeting that under the Environmental Noise Pollution Directive the Roads Service was working its way through a Roads Noise Action Plan but it was also noted that Drumbeg was not one of the areas included in this initiative.

Hide AdAfter everyone had an opportunity to put their case the Minister gave a commitment that Drumbeg would be included in the Roads Noise Action Plan and the Roads Service representatives gave an undertaking to discuss with the contractors responsible for the maintenance of the M1 the possibility of using the new SMA surface along this stretch of carriageway when it’s next due to be resurfaced.
Commitment
The SMA material has been used on other roads and has been reported to reduce to noise generated from traffic.
Mr Baird and the representatives from Drumbeg thanked Mr Kennedy for his time and for the commitments he made.
Mr Baird also gave the residents of Drumbeg his commitment to follow up on the issue and the promises made by the Minister and Roads Service.
