Saplings damaged in Rathcoole

THE Housing Executive in Rathcoole is urging those responsible for damaging recently planted beech saplings in the Linford Green area to consider their actions and put an end to such vandalism.

District Manager Sharon Crooks is referring to damage carried out in recent weeks and has also now called on local people witnessing these acts or with information about them, to contact the police or the local Housing Executive Office.

Sharon Crooks said: “This is part of a grounds rehabilitation programme and has included planting around 200 saplings in this area of Rathcoole. The planting has been carried out by the Housing Executive’s Direct Labour Organisation and is designed to improve the local environment for the benefit of all residents.

“It is, therefore, most disappointing that some saplings have been vandalised and will have to be replaced.

“The local environment is for everyone’s enjoyment and I want to appeal to those who have caused the damage to consider their actions and put a stop to this activity.

“I know that the vast majority of Rathcoole residents support the Housing Executive’s regeneration work and would call on local people to be vigilant and report any incidents of vandalism to the police or the Rathcoole District Office.”
