Snow ploughs

SNOWED-IN residents in Londonderry and Limavady will in future be reassured to know that Roads Service has more snow plough attachments in the two districts than anywhere else in Northern Ireland.

Of the 238 snow plough attachments across Northern Ireland there are 23 in Limavady (the highest number in Northern Ireland; equal with Ballymoney) and 22 in Londonderry.

In neighbouring Strabane, however, there are only seven.

Roads Minister Conor Murphy revealed the details in response to a query at the Stormont Assembly.

He stated: “Due to the varied type and nature of vehicles on which snow plough attachments are utilised, it is not possible to provide a definitive cost for the utilisation of a snow plough.”
