Teenager robs shop

A TEENAGER armed with a knife robbed a sweet shop in Lurgan on Valentine's Day.

The girl who was working in the shop in Albert Street was threatened by the masked robber who was brandishing a large knife. The youth then made off with a small amount of money.

It happened at around 6pm on Sunday, February 14.

The shop’s owner said the female member of staff was unhurt but very traumatised by her ordeal.

She said the robber was caught on camera, adding he couldn’t have been any older than 17.

The young man is described as approximately six foot tall and of slim build. He was wearing a white stripped hoody, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers and is understood to have made off on a BMX bike.

The owner said: “In this day and age it’s ridiculous that’s there’s people who don’t want to do a day’s work and would rather rob a shop for a few pounds.

“You expect this when you run a shop but not in broad daylight when there’s people still about.”
