Tobermore residents ‘unhappy’ at destruction of road

The republican elected representative said recent traffic diversion issues in relation to the upgrade of the Tobermore to Desertmartin section of the A29 resulted in a massive increase in all types of vehicles accessing Drumsamney Road.

He said: “Heavy vehicles have destroyed verges and kerbing on the edges of residents homes. It is suffice to say that local people living along the road are most unhappy with the destruction of their road.

“In future, Road Service need to take better control of traffic management and diversions when major road works are underway. The destruction of Drumsamney Road will have added immensely to all related project costs.

“I have raised this issue in a strong manner with Road Service area manager, Robin Cuddy.”

Cllr McGuigan also reported on a number of roads issues that he and his party colleague, Cllr. Catherine Elattar have been working on throughout Ballinascreen parish.

The Sinn Féin councillors have highlighted the poor condition of the Sixtowns Road at different sections. Emphasis has been placed on its general state of weak infrastructure with a particular focus put on dangerous bumps at the junction with Davagh Road. Poor surface conditions on the Cloane Road have also been raised in their discussions.
