Tractor run in Oisin's memory

Sponsored by McElderry Tractors, the run will pass through Rasharkin, Kilrea, Tamlaght, Crilly, Innishrush, Clady, Portglenone before returning to Rasharkin.

The event organisers are confident of a big turnout as they honour the memory of four year old Oisín McFerran who passed away in July last year.

All funds raised will go to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, where Oisín and his family received specialist care.

Registration for this expected cavalcade of pristine tractors begins at 11am, at a donation of £15 per entry. A Coffee Morning and Craft Fair will also take place in the hall.

Oisin’s mother Nolene McFerran said; “We are so grateful that Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is being supported by the club and that the event is in Oisin’s memory.

“Oisín was a beautiful boy, born on 31 july 2010 loved by everyone who ever met him.

“In his first few weeks of life, Oisín was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (amongst various other conditions) which left him profoundly disabled and with complex medical needs.

“There is no cure available for Oisín’s condition and our main concerns were to keep Oisín comfortable and give him as good a life as we possibly could. Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice gave us the chance to do just that. We visited Horizon House – also known as the Holiday House, as this was the destination of our only holidays throughout Oisín’s life. Our breaks not only offered respite, but also the chance to just be a family.

“In this setting, suction machines, feeding tubes, oxygen monitors and tanks are all normal and with one-to-

one attention to Oisín, the Hospice staff took over all of Oisín’s care needs allowing my husband Ryan and

me to just be...his mum and dad.

“The reality of Oisín’s condition however, inevitably lead to his death on 1st July 2015 – the worst day of our lives.

“Just one month off turning 5, Oisín passed away from a simple chest infection in the place he loved so well – Horizon House.

“Being in the Hospice meant that Oisín took his last little breath whilst in the arms of his mummy, with his daddy and little sister beside him. It could not have been more peaceful.”
