She was closely involved in many projects including the Giro d’Italia and Olympic torch run, which saw international focus fall on Carrickfergus. Everything from Armed Forces Day to the annual teddy bears picnic at the end of summer were part of her brief too.

David Hilditch MLA. a former chair of Carrick Council’s Events committee who worked closely with Lynda over a number of years, said he was greatly saddened at her death.

He said: “Lynda was very a personable, bubbly character and would have been known by many people around the district and further afield having played an important role in helping bring about all sorts of events.

“Her death is a loss to the town. She will be sadly missed and my thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.”
