Two youths charged after incident at Towpath

Two youths will appear in court following an incident on the Lagan Towpath on Saturday.

The charges are in relation to an incident on the Lagan Towpath which police are treating as a racially motivated hate crime.

Police charged two men aged 18 and 22 with a number of offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, behaviour intending or likely to stir up hatred and threats to kill.

The 22-year-old is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court today while the 18-year-old is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court on Thursday June 19. As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
