Watton calls for nationalist flags to be removed

The councillor said that around 80 torn flags were removed from lampposts in the Coleraine area.

“With the forthcoming Remembrance Sunday parade it would have been a disgrace for old veterans to march past tattered Union flags,” he said.

The councillor has now called for a similar response from Nationalist representatives.

“I would call on the elected representatives to do the same in the Pates Lane area. They were put up deliberately in a mixed area. Their only purpose was to be provocative. I call for their immediate removal.”
