Tony is an avid sportsman. He plays Water Polo for Clonard, which covers his swimming training and also cycles seven miles a day to his work at Stranmillis College.

He joined the newly-formed Barn Runners in a bid to improve his running - a discipline he described as his weakest link.

“I always like to try and take part in a couple of triathlons during the summer to keep fitness levels up for water polo.

“I entered the Titanic last year and was very impressed with the organisation and course, so I made sure to enter it again this year, with the bonus that it was also a WPFG event.

“The weather this year was warmer and less windy, which I found to be a great advantage and also reflected in my faster times.

“I play water polo for Clonard so that is my swimming training covered. My biggest weakness was my running and earlier this year I joined Barn Runners in Carrickfergus. It’s a great club and has helped me increase my distance and improve my times.
