Dudey to get a world title shot

Dungiven boxer Paul McCloskey looks set to get a world title shot with agreement reached “in principle” between his own representatives and those of IBO Champion Chris Van Heerden.

Paul McCloskey’s manager Francie McNicholl told the Sentinel that an agreement has been reached “in principle”, between the two sides, but stressed that “you never know in this business” and that nothing had yet been signed.

The two fighters, meanwhile, have been communicating with one another directly via social networking site Twitter.

After tweeting on May 28 that he was “trying to set up a fight in the US or UK looking for good opponent”, IBO supremo Van Heerden announced this morning (May 29, 2013): “Van Heerden VS McCloskey in Belfast Ireland September 10 000 people Lets do this time to bring The Heat.”

He added: “Lets Give the Irish fans a fight they will talk about for years Paul”, and “Can’t wait to step foot in Ireland to meet the passionate warm hearted people and build a new sort of fan base.”

McCloskey, also a frequent user of the social networking site, replied: “Yes, I’ve the best fans in the World without doubt, DudeyArmy is ready, are you @TheHeat001 @MatchroomBoxing @EddieHearn @smithsgym @SmithsBoxing”
