Chairman's toast to Stephen and Davy

THE chairman of the Coleraine Tennents Pool League has paid a warm tribute to two former players who had passed away over the past year.

Speaking at the league’s annual prizegiving in the Lodge Hotel last Friday night, Chris Baxter asked guests to toast Stephen Doey and Davy Lindsay.

Stephen, a very talented player, sadly lost his life in a road collision and Davy was a former chairman of the league and a great supporter of the game locally.

And it was fitting that one of the loudest cheers of the night was reserved for first time and very popular 147 Individuals winner, Lee Caufield.

Big Lee had used Stephen’s cue on his way to winning the blue riband Festival of Pool competition, defeating Aaron Moffatt in the final.

Numbers at the dinner were down this year due to some players being away at the World Championships in Bridlington in England and those players who had other commitments.

The presentation of the Tennents League trophies saw McNulty’s A pick up the Division 1 honours with Montra the winners of Division 2.

The Coleraine Times sponsored Captains’ Cup winners this year were Raymond Stockman (Division 1) and Arthur McMullan (Division 2).

The Most Sporting Team went to Mary Craig’s who managed to fulfil all their fixtures despite amassing just seven points all season and the Most Improved Player was the Montra’s Paul Ramsey.
