Carrick progress in Ulster Shield

Carrick batted first and openers Michael Gilmour and Iain Parkhill got them off to a great start with a partnership of 109 in 23 overs. Both then departed in quick succession; skipper Parkhill bowled for a solid 37, and Gilmour run out an over later for a fluent 70 off 72 balls which included 11 fours and a six.

Jamie Holmes and Indrajeet Kamtekar then shared in a 50-run partnership, with Holmes making 42 and Kamtekar 22, as Carrick progessed to 183 with five overs remaining.

Ryan Eagleson then led an onslaught on the ‘Clooney bowling, completing a superb 50 off only 29 balls which included eight boundaries and two sixes, enabling his side to post a very competitive 236 for 6 from their allotted 40 overs.

Killylooney were never really in the hunt after that. Skipper Mark Gordon made 37 and Richard McMorris 34 not-out late on, but four wickets for Jamie Holmes and a brace for Anthony Martin saw the North West side come up well short - all-out for 116 in only 28 overs.
