No stopping runmachine Carson inAll-Ireland success
Waringstown’s Under-11 captain hit an unbeaten 121, an incredible feat for someone so young, as the villagers secured the All-Ireland Cup with a 54-run win over Clontarf.
Carson, who has scored in excess of 500 runs in under-age cricket this season without being dismissed, hit 18 boundaries in his chanceless innings as Waringstown totalled a massive 186 for four in their 30 overs.

Carson’s knock remarked one seasoned cricket watcher to declare his century “as the best technical innings of any Irish youth cricketer he’s ever seen - including Eoin Morgan, Niall O’Brien and Paul Stirling”. Deryck Vincent and Andrew Poynter, the current Ireland international, were among Carson’s chief admirers.
Best bowlers for Clontarf were Neil Currie (2/27), David Vincent (1/17), and Chris Makin (1/17).
In reply Clontarf battled manfully to score a highly respectable 132 for three. Sean Barry with an unbeaten 60 and Chris Makin 34 not out shared a third wicket partnership of 93.
