Seventh victory condems Cregagh to relegation

Millpark secured their seventh win of the season, simultaneously condemning their East Belfast counterparts Cregagh to the drop.

The Banford Green men batted first, and things did not start well.

They were two wickets down with just 17 on the board as Jason Maxwell and Paul McCart both went cheaply.

COMBINED

Darrell Martin steadied the ship, and found that the middle and lower order combined well as the innings developed nicely.

Martin was out for a well constructed 30, and teammates Ryan McCart (13), Ben Talbot (15), Davy Glover (24) and Ali (19) all chipped in well.

The tail wagged briefly, and Millpark closed on 166 all out.

Too often in the past Cregagh have been a thorn in the side of Millpark, but this was not to be repeated on this occasion.

Their top order folded with not so much as a whimper.

Opening bowlers Martin (3-21) and James Wright (3-15) holed their opponents fatally below the line, and Rodney Ontong, formerly of Glamorgan and Transvaal, really only prolonged the agony.

The veteran of over 350 First Class games played steadily enough, but found Davy Glover (1-8 in 10 overs) and Stu McCart (1-25) in miserly mood.

SATISFACTORY

Ryan McCart pitched in with two wickets towards the end. Ontong finished on 43 not out as his team’s innings ended on 110 all out - a satisfactory 56 run win for Millpark.
